Why this age old traditional technique works beautifully in any home

In the world of interiors, certain materials quietly do their job with style, strength and timeless appeal. Flatweave is one of them.
So what exactly is Flatweave? And why is it the ideal choice for staircases? Lets take a closer look...
What is Flatweave?
Flatweave is a type of textile construction in which threads are tightly woven together on a loom. The warp Threads (vertical) are made from cotton and always one colour as you won't see them in the finished rug. Weft threads (horizontal) are woven in varying sequences and in different colours to create pattern and texture. This is where different yarns are used, we primarily use New Zealand wool as this is not only durable but looks & feels luxurious with a lovely lustre.
So why is it so good on stairs?
Stair cases are high traffic, high visibility spaces, we pass through them countless times a day so why not have something that brings you joy or adds that extra bit of wow without the worry of damage... Flatweave rugs whether simple or bold are incredibly hard working.
Tightly woven for durability
Flatweave handles daily foot traffic like a pro. It's tight structure resists fraying and won't flatten out like pile carpet making it ideal for busy households.
The perfect fit around stairs
Because it is thinner and flexible Flatweave contours easily around steps.
We have expert fitters that work the patterns around winding steps often cutting and mitring and then sewing the pieces together to get the perfect fit.
Safe & Practical
The lower profile means less edges to trip on and they are firmly fixed in place with special grippers and underlay.
Timeless Aesthetic
Flatweave lends itself to heritage interiors, modern minimalism and everything in between. It allows for refined colour blocking, stripes or bold geometric detailing - all without the bulk.
